had such a disturbing dream just now while taking my afternoon nap [shucks, the whole reason why i had to nap was because i didn't get my daily dose of coffee today )):  ] but anw, it was really so disturbing that i was amazed. ): mostly because it was such a short nap but the dream was so... i dunno haha. anyway i dreamt that one of my patients was sitting on my chair to replace his amalgam filling that had fractured some time ago. so i was just doing my usual stuff, drilling the old filling out and packing in new amalgam, carving it down, yada yada. then i asked him to check the bite if it was ok, but he didn't respond. like, not even a twitch. then i realised that he was no longer breathing and had no pulse. :/ i pulled him off the chair onto the ground to try and do some cpr. then i realised that i'd forgotten how to do cpr :O screamed for help but there was nobody around. so scary omggg. )):

i can't imagine why i had this sort of nightmare though omgggg. i think it's cos i'm supposed to see this patient on thurs, but it's not to replace his filling yet, it's just to take an impression of his teeth for a denture later on. but yes, i am supposed to replace his filling in like 2 weeks' time. lol. so context-specific ah, this nightmare.

am still very very disturbed by it omg. i don't know if this is an omen or premonition of some sort (hopefully not, because this would mean one of my patients is going to be in danger or sth ) but whatever it is, i feel an urgent need to go revise my cpr skills lol. they are srsly going to come in handy at some point or other.

school has been going fine i guess. not really very fine, but same old, same old. i've been making progress in the clinics and that's a good thing. i've found that i really enjoy OD clinics, and i love doing caries free omg. i really get this huge sense of satisfaction after scooping out craploads of decay, and looking into a clean cavity. apparently most of my classmates feel the same satisfaction too hahaha, it must be one of the very typical joys most dentists get out of their work i guess! hahaha job satisfaction much?? (:  i love doing restorations too omg, it gets less stressful after a while, once you get the hang of it (: it feels SO GOOD, looking at the tooth which has been restored to it's former glory once again (: pretty!! :D

i guess it's only after we get used to the technical stuff, that we can start to appreciate and care more about the aesthetic aspect of our work -- which was something i used to constantly gripe about last time when i was still having to struggle with the basics of operative dentistry (oh gosh i still rmbr those painful times, when i swore to myself that i hated doing anything that required me to hold a handpiece and do drilling HAHA ). i used to whine about how aesthetics are such a superficial thing to bother about, and why can't we just have functional dentistry, why must we care about prettiness on top of everything else?! but now, maybe i've succumbed to this love of aesthetics already, but i do take great job in placing an aesthetically pleasing restoration, even if it's in a posterior tooth that is really not visible to anyone else but me hahaha lol. (: guess i've changed quite a bit since i first entered dentistry haha... now i actually bother to carve the morpho nicely, make sure the cusp slopes are nicely inclined, fissures are nicely shaped (: haha and it makes me happy doing it, oh gosh, what has become of me hahaha xD

i'm still kinda struggling with impression taking though. it made me very depressed for the whole of last fri, because i  had started taking my first set of primary impressions in my first denture patient, and it was a disaster. i self-rejected like more than 10 maxillary impressions (i lost count alr) because there were so many problems omg, sulcus not registered la, voids, frenum not registered, blah blah. then when i finally managed to get an impression that i felt was worthy of being shown up, my instructor for the day rejected it, and decided to take pity on me and help me take the impression as a sort of demonstration as well. omg. ultimate failure. ): the worst part is my poor patient was so so so kind and understanding i felt so bad with every try that i took. ): yes, even the instructor said she was a difficult patient to take the impression on, because of small mouth and tight lips, but still... if i really had some skill, i would have been able to take a slightly decent impression in less than 10 plus tries ): so there's no excuse for my abysmally horrendous performance in the clinic that day, and just goes to show that impression-taking is seriously something i need to improve on omg.

took just as many tries for the lower impression after which the instructor had to help me take a usable lower impression as well. i was srsly damn dejected that day la. ): i'm glad my instructor was so nice though, he was really patient with me and like, didn't scold at all, just nagged a bit la. so nice seriously.... (: and my patient was so freaking nice too omg. felt so bad sigh. i'm very very glad to have such a friend like sharon though haha, she was so nice can, she just ran over to help me mix the alginate, and after that helped me to retract the cheek and lips of the patient somemore (((: omg so nice la! (: and after that she accompanied me to find my patient's daughter to show her some xrays for her dad's root canal treatment. haha i was seriously touched (((: flo and wj saw my damn depressed face and were very comforting too haha (: aww it's always nice to know that i have lovely friends who care about me yayy haha ((:

oral patho and operative dent test coming soon! crap! ):

i really don't wanna despair so often, but i just cannot help it.

the road ahead looks so dark and bleak, and i go to sleep every night with the thought that i will not be  able to complete my requirements, and i will not be able to find enough f/f patients, my patients will not be motivated enough to brush properly and then cannot clear OHP blah blah. so many things to complete, but only so little time...

i feel depressed constantly, if not depressed, then i'm angsty. and it's not good for me, or for the people around me.

i feel like i'm doing my best alr, and giving my all, but even my best is just not good enough. where to go from here?

i like to think that people understand my woes, but sadly, most people don't. non-dental ppl can sympathise, but only to a small degree, and i can understand because this sort of thing is not easy to empathise with, unless you've gone through the experience yourself. some dental ppl cannot understand too, cos life is just really smooth for them and they've never had to experience a lot of shit in dental sch. then there's those who are on the same boat as you, but you feel bad whining too much after a while, because hey, they're in the same situation but they don't even whine as much as you, so oh gosh, what a weakling you must be! at the end of the day, very few people understand, and i'm just left to deal with all my woes alone, in the dark recesses of my mind, when i'm not having to study or do labwork or schedule appts and plan treatments, yada yada.

i hate my life omg.

i did my first extraction today ((: i'm not supposed to divulge the patient's identity cos of patient confidentiality, so all i'm going to say is that it was this nice uncle, and his lower wisdom tooth was carious so he decided to extract it cos the wisdom tooth is non-functional in the mouth anyway! anw i'm damn lucky to get this patient haha!! to cut the long story short, i'm on surgery posting this week, and we're supposed to do some extractions and assist in some wisdom tooth surgeries during this week! i didn't manage to find patients who needed extractions though, and so barney very kindly passed me this case that his senior passed to him, and let me extract his carious wisdom tooth! so kind of him right! ((: i always appreciate such kind gestures because firstly he could have kept the case for his own surgery posting when his turn arrives, and secondly, extraction patients are really hard to find!! :O so yeahhh, he let me have this patient for simple extraction (: and then he knew i didn't have a patient for surgery assistantship, so he passed me one of his own patients too!! so i will be scrubbing in on her wisdom tooth surgery this fri (: omg he's so kind haha, what did i do to deserve such kindness from people!! :D :D

yeahh so anyway, back to the extraction today haha! i was super nervous cos it was my first time, and my  patient could tell somehow omg. then he told me not to be so nervous cos it was making him nervous too )): oh dear haha. D: anw, gave him the usual nerve block anesthesia (: it was quite successful whew and he was numb in no time at all! (: then i grabbed the forceps and tried to engage the tooth... and omg. the carious part of the tooth crumbled. ))): faints. i was a bit distressed la, i mean, srsly, first extraction and this happened??!! but ok i can't say i wasn't expecting it, lol, cos we all know that carious teeth are demineralized and thus it makes sense that it would break easily right! ): but still, omg, right at the start of the extraction leh!! ): lucky dr lim was there and he helped me out haha, so we removed the decayed tooth structure, and we were left with very little tooth structure, too little to get a good grip on the tooth with the forceps. so dr lim guided me through the whole process of using a cryer to luxate the tooth. it's really fun omg!! (: the tooth got slightly loosened and rotated a bit in the socket heh (: then i used the forceps again to try and yank it out haha, this time there was a better grip alr cos it was loosened enough to expose more sound tooth structure (: and after struggling for an eternity (actually prob a few min only la, but it felt like an eternity to me) the tooth popped out of the socket! success!! (: hahaha xD

then, after that there was this walk-in patient who needed 8 extractions... this one is a sad story. we checked the medical history and found that he was diagnosed with bronchial prostatic cancer just last month, and there were mets to the bone already. :O he needed dental clearance before starting on chemotherapy treatment, thus the need for the 8 extractions. one was a mobile tooth, and the rest were root stumps. there were 4 of us on posting, so we each got to do some extractions for that patient. we got to clock quite a few extractions today thanks to this patient, but it feels terrible knowing that we got some points out of a cancer patient.. ): and it's depressing to know that in just a few months, this patient who once sat on the chair in front of me, might either be dead already, or suffering greatly from all the chemo and the cancer. ):  and it also feels especially terrible, because he was so nice and so stoic today. he never moaned or groaned in pain throughout the whole procedure, even though i could tell he was in pain la. like when we anesthetized him, he started breathing super heavily, like he was in pain. and i know from the experience of practising anesthesia on each other last term, that getting injected with the anesthesia hurts really bad, yet he seriously did not let out a sound at all. ))): poor uncle srsly omg, it's really depressing having to watch him go through all this, and worse still, be the one to jab him 16 times with a needle (ok i only jabbed him 8 times, and my partner did the other 8, but still?!!) and then subject him to the torture of getting 8 extractions. He's already suffering, and he still had to let these inexperienced dental students dig around in his gums for root stumps....  ): we get some points out of this, and we get to meet our extraction quota faster, but what does he get? clearance to go for  chemo, to treat a disease that is by now probably damn serious alr, and is going to kill him in a few months anw.... words can't even describe how terribly sorry i feel for him, and how much i wish this was not happening to him. ):

so depressing srsly omg. it's strange... at 2 pm when i knew that we were going to get this patient who needed an epic number of extractions, i was so excited... but at 3:30, the minute we read through his medical history, i started feeling quite upset alr. and by the time 4:30 came, and i had to anesthetize the left side of his upper jaw, i felt damn damn damn upset omg. sigh aiya i dunno how to describe it. i just sometimes feel like we're monsters lol. no wonder most people hate dentists. sometimes i hate myself too... ):

even until now, i can still vividly see all his 8 bleeding sockets in my mind, and i still remember the feeling of the syringe in my hand, the needle firmly poking against the bone of his palate. i'm a monster omg.

i always thought people who proclaimed stuff like "omg i wanna find a cure for cancer" were really fake and all, but today, i can totally understand it really... it's true. one day, someone had better find a cure for cancer, cos it's really ruining people's lives. totally innocent people who should have had the chance to live a little longer, a little more happily, without cancer robbing them of their quality of life, their money, and now their teeth and root stumps. omg.

so unfair omg. there's so much suffering in this world, it's terrible. )): on another note, i'm glad i'm not a  doctor lol. just ask me to extract some teeth and root stumps from a cancer patient and i cannot take it alr. imagine having to treat this person's cancer and then watch him die a few months later... i really cannot take it omg. much as dentistry imposes a lot of emotional and mental and physical stress and angst on me, at least i'm grateful that we usually don't have to watch our patients die...

ok i don't wanna talk about this already omg, so upset i feel like crying ):

on another note, i really enjoy oral surgery haha ((: it's really a very very awesomely indescribable feeling when the tooth finally pops out of the socket!! :D haha and it's really exciting too, watching surgeries and all. (: ahhhh love it (: it's so much better than all the other disciplines in dentistry omg (: so much more meaningful too... not that our other disciplines are not meaningful la. haha ok i'm so biased lol. actually right from the start i always found oral surgery very fascinating hahaa, not so much dentures or gum disease lol :p and now that we've started oral surgery lessons and postings and real extractions, i'm loving it even more!! :D

wow so happy hehe! something totally unexpected happened... I PASSED CROWN COMPETENCY!! (((: omgg so happy srsly!! :D ahhhhh!! (((: haha i'm now allowed to make crowns for my patients in the clinic! :D not that i have any patients who need crowns at the moment la oops. but still! so elated! (: the depressing cycle of equilibration and re-equilibration ends here for now! (: for now only haha, cos still need to equilibrate for bridge course and bridge competency next time. but omg yes so happy! (:

and i managed to meet the deadline for completing last term's fixed prostho work on endodontically treated teeth and retainers for dentures (((: omg. no more surveyed crowns for a long long time! (i hope..) haha xD just managed to finish it today whew, cutting it real close, cos if we don't finish by the last FP lesson this week then we'll receive a fail grade for that course apparently. heng ah! :D

now i can move on to bridges.. haha already lagging behind cos most of the class alr started on bridges like one or two session earlier. but it's ok! (: i'll just press on and perservere (:

some pictures (:

close up view of my wax up of surveyed PFM crown on #45. (: distal guide plane is there already, but the mesial rest seat wasn't incorporated yet haha... i was just focusing on getting the tooth morphology correct (: the lighting isn't very good but i assure you the occlusal morpho is pretty accurate and realistic (:  grooves and cusp tips and buccal slopes and marginal ridges yada yada are all in the right position (:

buccal view (: so shiny omg! (: feel so proud of myself (:

the empty sockets look really morbid here hahaha xD

on the right, is the crown prep that i cut for this round of competency! (: and that's my provi (temporary crown) on the left haha (: i'm showing you guys the more polished surface of my provi haha, the other surface is a bit rough cos i patched up some resin in the last 3 min of the test and didn't have time to polish. but the morpho was not bad huh :p the prep is not one of my nicest preps as i mentioned before, but i couldn't find the very first prep i cut for the first crown test (which was my nicest looking prep ever, imo)

my nicest looking cast so far!! :D haha all nicely trimmed and smoothened and polished with sandpaper (: this was for last term's FP module on surveyed crowns haha, so there are all the survey lines on the teeth D: but still doesn't look too bad la, cos my survey lines are pretty neat too yay (:

lol, i think that i'm learning to take more pride in my work these days (: the nicole in yr 1 would not have given two hoots about sandpaper-ing a stone cast to beautify it for goodness sake. but now, i'm learning more about what's expected of me, and about impression management... and it's true that showing up shoddy work is pointless when you could just put in a bit more effort and make it look nicer a bit, and then the instructors wouldn't have such a poor impression on you... to most people, appearance IS everything, and if you can make something look nice and presentable then it tends to reflect better on you i guess, even if your work might not really be so ideal or accurate. unfair, and slightly lame (in my opinion) but true. and since we're all a part of society, we have to conform to society's ideals, much as we try to be true to ourselves and try not care excessively about what others think... lol. look how much dentistry has changed me haha....

i pray that i will not get too sucked into the whole aesthetics shebang though... it's really too lame. i mean ok, beautifying stone casts and all are still pointless in my opinion cos the stone cast itself is just meant to be used for labwork purposes, not like we're going to give the cast to the patient to keep or sth -.- but i will still beautify it la, for the sake of surviving dental sch... it's true lor, if the cast is not pretty, they won't sign it anyway, and then, i won't be able to pass my cases, and THEN, i won't be able to graduate in time. ugh. but human aesthetics is just too subjective a field for me, and i REFUSE to pander to all this rigid and lame notions of dental aesthetics, perfect smile line, blah blah. too bad.  i only set up denture teeth in perfect class 1 occlusion and following curve of spee and whatnot, because we are expected to do so. but don't ever expect me to tell you that that's the perfect and ideal set up of teeth for aesthetic purposes. because it's not omg. no one ever said that only perfectly aligned teeth are beautiful, and the lateral incisors must be set slightly higher than the central incisors to look nice and all. i don't believe in these lame guidelines and i never will, lol. it's just stupid, that's all.  to me, as long as your teeth are clean-looking and free from obvious stains and calculus, and not tooooo messy looking, i'd still say you have nice teeth haha (:

k i think i'm officially crazy ): did lector duty in church today and so i was sitting in the front row throughout. i dunno why but i started tearing during the sermon and a while after that... for like no reason at all omg, so embarrassing. )): don't understand what came over me also... maybe it was the message of the 2nd reading. "it is when i am weak that i am strong" and about how God gives us "thorns in our flesh" so as to make us less proud and so that we can learn and grow through all these sufferings. maybe i felt like i could identify... what with all the struggles i'm going through right now. but i don't feel that i'm getting stronger lol, i'm just getting consumed by my own troubles. ):

so anyway, yeah. i'm probably clinically depressed or sth wth. better srsly get myself checked out. ): who the hell cries in church for no reason :O in the end i couldn't take it and i just left after communion. cried all the way to park mall where i went in to use the toilet ): looked like a totally insane person omg. sigh what is happening omg, i really have no idea. ):

i'm probably just tired and jaded with life, tired of believing in myself, and people around me. and sometimes i'm even tired of putting my trust in Him. just felt like maybe there were too many thorns in my life, and i'm really seriously not getting any stronger from it. why doesn't all these pain and despair just go away. ): i'm trying hard really, i'm trying hard to stay positive and cheerful but it's all a farce, cos on the surface i look chirpy but deep down i'm so darn depressed omg ): wth.

i just saw photos of the seniors' graduation on fb! (: so envious omg. i wanna be there too... in 2 years time. but at the rate things are going, i seriously doubt that i can get there on time ): omg. sigh i want to get out of here too, and be able to celebrate with everyone else together... just really hope i can make it in time...

omg today is ANOTHER shit day )): i cannot believe it omg, i've had 2 shitty days in a row alr :O it's only the 2nd day of sch omg.

my back hurts and my hands hurt omg. the backache is something that i'm sorta adjusting to... but the handpain is sth different omg. i feel like my hands are on fire omg, and every bone, joint and tendon in my hand is aching. )): did a lot of strenuous stuff today haha first we had orthodontic technique in the morning, and we started off with learning how to bend an Adam's clasp for ortho retainers. it's freaking tiring and freaking painful omg. i'm ok with wire bending for denture clasps and rests, but i think i have no talent with ortho wires omg ): the configuration is just so... complex. so many problems omg. my arrowheads just don't look symmetrical, the lingual leg always ends up being longer than the buccal leg. i haven't even started trying to bend the crossover part of the clasp yet, cos i still can't perfect my arrowheads omg. ): and it's so painful omg my hands were shaking from fatigue after just 1 hr of futile wire bending ): oh shit omggggg srsly. i really have no talent at all in any area of dentistry omg wth. i really have no idea how i got through the MDT. must have been a fluke la.

and then after lunch there was 1 hr of DPH (sucks omg, boring ttm.) then crown competency retest. omg i'm already on my 2nd retest, and i still can't perfect my technique omg. i really don't think i'll pass this round of retest. i really don't deserve to pass anyway, cos i'm still so horrible at making the provi. ): srsly, any form of resin is really not my friend at all. ): today the consistency of the resin was doughier than usual but it still took ages to set. and i pulled the provi off from the tooth too soon i think, it was half-setting, and so the entire palatal margin tore off, leaving a big hole ): then i patched it up but there was still a distal marginal gap. looked at the clock, 5 min left omg. chionged to the lab to polish the provi and then chionged back to the clinic to try and salvage the distal marginal gap. in the end i was so desperate i just vaselined the tooth and slapped some resin onto the provi at the deficient area and left it on the tooth and handed up. haha. crap. but at least i had time to polish. i'm improving i guess!! getting better but not perfect yet. ):

my crown prep was a disappointment though... it didn't look like anything i'd ever cut before ): usually i take pride in cutting quite decent-looking preps but today's one looked strange :O maybe after 3 weeks of not holding a handpiece over the hols, i'd forgotten how to cut preps. )):

anw it'd be a miracle if i pass this round. sigh but i'll prob have to retake next round. and then i'll get slowed down even more for bridge course. ):

my patients are gonna suffer along with me i realise ): like poor sweet little mr yeo ): he's gonna have to wait for me to finish my bridge course and take competency(goodness knows when that'd be) before i can start doing the bridge for him ): in the meantime he has to put up with the pain from food impaction omg. it's not fair omg srsly. ))): i feel paiseh and stupid and laopok and helpless omg. wth. ):

i/m damn bloody tired now omg, still have to study for perio and oral surgery kill me now omg. ):

Monday, July 02, 2012

today is a damn bloody depressing day for a first day at school wth. but ok la to  be fair i was pretty efficient at FP stuff, if i may say so myself :p i got my denture design signed, did my mock prep on the stone cast, and did the actual prep in the mouth! (: haha then i tried doing the occlusal record.(pattern resin or any sort of resin for that matter is really not my friend omg. damn bloody hard to manipulate srsly) finally succeeded after damn long but couldn't get it signed by end of the lesson cos i had a lot of excess which i needed to trim off, but not enough time to finish.

then i spent the whole of my lunch time trying to equilibrate my dummy head jaws for crown retest tmr. )): hate equilibrating omg fml. couldn't finish at all even after spending the whole of lunch break. ): and i also realised i'm in a bit of a fix cos after equilibrating this for crown test, my previous occlusion for the surveyed crown shit is now totally lost and completely altered. ): this means that i did my occlusal record for nth today omg, cos since the occlusion changed, for the next FP i need to re-equilibrate my jaws to fit the prev occlusion again (FML srsly) and then REDO the occlusal record cos my occlusion will definitely not be exactly the same as last time and so the old occlusal record is now redundant. gosh. imagine if i fail crown retest.... gotta re-equilibrate again for the NEXT retest. which, this time, is going to screw with my new occlusion for bridge course. damnit omg when will this depressing spiral of equilibration ever end omg )):

and then had clinics today.... i have a nice patient, but the circumstances are not nice at all. i'm not going to elaborate here, but let's just say that professionalism is something that is constantly absent in my cubicle, no thanks at all to me. super cryptic, but if you know what's happening, you'd probably get what i mean. darn. and besides the whole professionalism issue, there's also this issue about lack of  time. i feel so damn helpless omg, there's no time to get a proper ideal treatment done at all, doesn't anyone understand omg?! at least such ideal treatment couldn't possibly be rendered here in this sch with the time constraints that we have. and outside treatment is possible la, but at a high monetary cost. i explained all these to patient, and patient made a decision, which i informed the instructor about, but the instructor doesn't seem to get that it's the patient's wishes and sigh, it just makes me looks like i'm a bad clinician and i'm choosing the faster way out of this case, but srsly, i myself would have opted for the longer, better treatment which is what i had been advising the patient to do, but patient really did not want to do it leh srsly. feel so misunderstood.

and it doesn't help with this other person providing "advice" that i had already given damn long ago, and acting as if i did not advice the patient properly at all damnit. because i did! and my conscience is clear, so there. it's just damn bloody irritating omg. always trying to undermine me damnit damnit omg, you're totally driving me up the wall really. professionalism pls! goddamnit.

this post is full of swear words haha oh dear. but i'm really damn angsty omg, damn depressed srsly. WHYY OMG.

why the hell am i getting so worked up over patients omg, i should be worrying about my crown test tmr. ): i guess that's the difference la... patients are real humans after all lol. crown test is just... lol technique work done on a dummy head with screwy jaws that cannot bite down properly. lol.

i just can't bring myself to study for oral surgery paper and perio paper this week. omg it's like i've lost my drive ): i keep thinking abt my unfinished labwork and my clinical treatment plan for all my various patients even when i'm supposed to be studying. i guess if i leave things hanging in the air like that i can't focus well on doing other stuff. ): but then how omg, things are ALWAYS gonna be left hanging in the air for at least some period of time in dental sch omg. )): sigh. hate this inefficiency. ):

oh but anyway, good news of the day, by 5:30 pm (after which i finally had the mood to eat lunch -.- ) i managed to get some form of acceptable occlusion for crown retest tmr. even with the screwy jaw problem lol haha. you stupid metal jaws you'd better bite down properly tmr i tell you omg. ): and i polished my provi shells haha but still need to hollow out tmr. during lunch la i guess. dreams of making use of early morning time at 7:15 tmr has now been destroyed... thanks to internal med dept deciding to have some stupid briefing at freaking 7 am in the morning wth is your problem srsly. now i need to make use of lunch to do work AGAIN. and will prob end up going for crown competency on an empty stomach. omg.

I'M SO STRESSED HELP!!! )))):

today i had such chronic backache after clinics. and still got yelled at for a very minor thing. my life sucks omg. also almost immediately after, i got yelled at, again! for being "lifeless" even at my age. yeah well too bad for me, my back hurts my head hurts i'm damn stressed my toes keep cramping yada yada. no one knows, so no one understands my pains, people think it's fine to just yell at me like that. i srsly don't think it's right to just freaking vent your frustrations on innocent parties like that srsly.

oh wells. then i reached home and toes cramped AGAIN. and i really felt like just crying alr. omg. crazy right. crying over a toe cramp. but it's not just that omg, it's everything else that just comes at one go, all in one day. :O it's too much really. i really think i'm slightly crazy or maybe clinically depressed or sth. srsly, no normal person would just feel like crying at random times of the day for no reason/for the slightest tiniest reason. i think maybe one day i will go check myself out or sth lol. when i have time la. this cannot go on omg, one day i will have a mental breakdown. ):

ok now i've gotten all the shit off my chest, i can prob try to focus on studying for perio now. ):

from tmr onwards i'm officially a year 3 dental student!! :O haha i'm halfway there alr omg, i cannot believe 2 years of dental sch has passed alr, haha it felt like forever i swear.

anyway, on to tackle the rest of dental sch hahaha internal medicine, surgery and oral pathology this year, plus all the other dental subjects blah blah, gao dim labwork and clinics, and get out of here asap omg.

i have SO MUCH backlog it pains me just to think abt it. D: sigh it's such a nightmare having to start the first term of a new academic yr with so much labwork alr gosh ): all carried forward from yr 2 special sem. DARN.

for RP, i have to tidy up and show up my upper and lower casts for the beading and boxing technique thingy. then drill out a tooth from my lower denture and repair. then break my upper denture into 2 halves and repair also. shit max omgggg damn heartpain to break dentures. esp after i spent shitloads of time polishing it. ))): all this has to be done during my own free time, or else cannot start seeing complete denture patients for clinics ):

for FP, omg. it's a freaking long list of chores to get over and done with. and this has to be completed at the expense of my bridge module, since most people can alr get started with bridges course at the start of the term cos they've finished last term's work alr. and omg best, we're only given 2 weeks to finish up leftover work from last term's FP, or else it would be considered that we failed the FP course last term. AND there's single crown competency retest this tues. this means the usual shitty preparations must be done before the test -- equilibrate to get tripodization contacts, and make provi shell, and putty index. ):

k so anyway, here's my to-do-list for FP. gotta really chiong this one man.

1) Monday morning 7:15 am -- occlusal equilibration and make provi shell.
2) Monday during FP lesson, show up the denture design plus survey of cast plus lab authorization sheet. ):
3) start mock prep of #45 on the cast if there's time.
4) Monday lunch -- tidy up casts for RP.
5) Monday 5-5:30 tidy up RP casts, drill out a tooth from lower denture. break upper denture.
6) Tues 7:15 am -- putty index for crown test. repair denture.
7) future FP sessions (assuming there's no lecture) complete crown prep of #45 in the mouth, wax up, mount lower model on articulator.

DAMN, there's so much work to be done!!! )))))):

i just finished my denture design for FP haha. had to redo it cos the old one had some problem. probably cos my path of insertion of the denture was a bit off, based on my surveying. haha.

this is my new denture design. haha i'm gonna show it up tmr, hope it works omg or else have to redo, and cannot move on for FP. damn slow alr srsly. anw for this one i changed the path of insertion so the clasp has to be distally approaching. it looks weird on the design sheet if you ask me, but i'm still gonna try and show up tmr and see what she says cos i really honestly dunno where to go from here alr, every single angle of tilt i've tried for my cast does not give me proper undercuts for the clasp assembly GAHHH.

this is the old one! with mesially approaching clasp assembly. the problem here was that the non-retentive part of the clasp arm was too close to the occlusal table. no choice leh, the survey line was so high up )):

anyway, i'm just gonna try my best to be on task for all the courses next term. we have FP technique (bridgework), paeds technique, ortho technique, and clinical endo. and all the usual disciplines for clinics la. STRESS. k i'm gonna try my best, and try to make it out in one piece. JIAYOU ME!!! (:
